DISSERTATION: Planning and Evaluation of Digital Assistance (DAS) Support in Cyber-Physical Assembly Systems (Work Title)

Abstract: Development of a methodology to plan and to evaluate a DAS design, that supports human (operator) in an efficient way against the contextual background of consequently changing assembly activities and small lot-sizes optimally and that promotes an achievable productivity effect of the human and the work systems. Thereby it is to ensure that data information from early phases of product development can use for the execution of the heuristic. Within the proclaimed objectives, this thesis pursuer the following benefits:

  • Obtaining quantitative insights into influencing factors and their interactions between technical components DAS and individual performance abilities, motivation and acceptance criteria of assembly workers as well as its productivity effects and productivity effects of the holistic assembly system, taking into account dynamically changing assembly tasks and requirements.
  • Investigation of a comprehensive landscape of technical components of DAS as well as their networking with the assembly peripherals and not focusing technical closed DAS.
  • A holistic set of rules and its heuristic description for efficient planning and evaluation DAS in a variety of serial assemblies, taking into account central design aspects of CPAS and using already available information out of early as possible stages of work system planning.
  • „Proof-of-Concept-Demonstrator“ as an IT-based tool for operational application and evaluation of the investigated methodology in small and medium-sized enterprises with a view to efficient investment decision-making support in early phases of product development.
